There is a French Bulldog named Norman who eats too many hotdogs. He refused to eat anything else. His parents didn’t like that he only ate hotdogs at Frankie’s, so they decided to stop giving him hotdogs. One day, Norman’s parents brought him to a different restaurant that didn’t sell hotdogs. When Norman got there, he did not know what to eat! He felt angry and disappointed. His Mom and Dad tried to get him to try new things but it didn’t work. Norman didn’t eat anything!
Norman’s parents brought him to food therapy where he would learn to try new things! Norman started to bark, he felt angry! During his first session, Norman’s therapist said, “Try it! It’s called an apple!” Norman refused. Then during his next session, the therapist tried to give Norman a sausage but it did not work. If it wasn’t a hotdog, Norman wasn’t going to eat it. The therapist did not know what to do. Norman felt devastated because he only wanted hotdogs.
The next idea the therapist had was dog food. Norman hoped it was hotdog flavor, but Norman did not dare try it! The therapist thought of ideas to trick Norman into eating it. First, they told Norman that the dog food was a hotdog, but Norman knew it wasn’t. Then, they tried rewarding Norman by giving him a dog treat after he took a bite, but that did not work because he didn’t even take a bite! Then the therapist tried putting a hot dog INSIDE of his dog food. That didn’t work either. So, they almost gave up!
One day, Norman’s parents caught him eating his dog food! He tried it because he thought it was a dog treat and he actually liked it! Norman’s parents were so proud and they gave him a treat and threw him a party. Of course, Bernie and I were invited. Bernie and Norman ate too many dog treats there but everyone had a good time. Norman now eats dog food and dog treats just like a normal dog. No more hotdogs for Norman.
